Suspended ceiling & atriums

Suspended ceilings are a principal cause of air leakage in buildings. Suspended ceilings are specified because they are much cheaper to install, but if they are not assessed using a blower door, tracer gas, and thermal imaging testing, they can be responsible for as much as 10% of the energy loss from a building.

Atriums are another cause of energy loss.  Suspended too high for visual inspections, atriums often exhibit invisible leaks that can only be identified using more scientific assessments.
